Bus from Urumqi to Turpan, is this better than by train? How much slower or less comfortable?

We plan to visit a few places in Turpan in a day. The idea is to book a taxi for the day from 9 am till say 4pm and then catch a train back to Urumqi by 6 pm. Is this practical ?

As I know, you can take a bus to Turpan from South Suburban Bus Station at No. 1, Yan'erwo Road, Tianshan District. The buses are available from 08:40 to 19:20, and it takes about 3 hours. The seat is soft.
However, you are advised to take a bullet train to Turpan North from Urumqi South Railwya Station. The trains are available from 9:24 to 20:10, and the trip takes about 1 hour. Both second class seats and first class seats are available for you. The second class seat costs CNY 49, and the first class seat costs CNY58.5.

Yes, you can make it within one day. The last bullet train returns at 20:46 by the way. Have a nice trip!

For Turpan, the Karez System Museum, Flaming Mountain and Grape Valley are highly recommended. The three spots are enough for your day trip from 09:00 to 18:00. Have fun!

Hi

Bus takes nearly 3 hours and high speed train is 55minutes . train is more conofrtable than bus . make sure that you you buy high spped train which train nombber strat with D .
or you just book a car for whole trip , visit Karez ,Jiao he ruins , Imin minaret , flaming mountin , Toyuk village .
