L Visa and S2

My son is currently teaching in China on a z type permit and I am going to visit him in Dalian for 4 days. We will then go on the Beijing and Xi'an to sightseeing and tour for 5 days. Do I need to apply for a S2 type entry permit or can I just apply for a L (tourism) type?
