Z visa and passport

I'm going to be renewing my Irish passport this week. I have a Z type which is valid until November 2016. Should I apply for a new Z type when I get my new passport?

By Z type, I think you mean the residence permit on your passport, right? After you get a new passport, your current residence permit can still be used. You don't need to renew it.
