Stop over at Shanghai from Amsterdam to Auckland

In september, I fly from Amsterdam to Auckland with 11 hours stopover in Shanghai. Can I leave the airport and visit Shanghai for a few hours without a China visa?
Thanks!

Miranda, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai if you travel like that.
After arrival at the airport, you can apply for a temporary stay permit which is free of charge at the immigration office, and then you can leave the airport and visit the city.
