transit in guangzhou for 9 hrs

I am a Malaysia passport holder. I will be transiting at Guangzhou Airport for 9 hours. Can I go out of the airport for sight seeing? Do I need to get some kind of visa?

Chuey, if so, you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit in Guangzhou. You can apply for a free temporary stay permit at the airport and then go to the city for sightseeing.
