can i get tourist l type with multiple entry to prc

Hi, I am a British passport holder and intend to visit PRC on 3 separate occasions in the next 12 months. Can I get a tourist L type that lasts 12 months and offers multiple entries? Each visit is likely to last no more than 20 days. I have heard it is now possible to get a 2-year visa. This would be useful; because in 2017 I would also like to visit my partner who will be working for a museum in PRC for 3 months and she would like me to stay with her for 2 or 3 weeks.

Stephen, you can apply for a multiple-entry tourist L type for 12 months to enter PRC, or you can apply for the 2-year multiple-entry tourist L type. Both of them cost the same. So if possible, you can apply for a 2-year one, which will be preferable.

Hi Klaus, that's very good news, many thanks.Will I need to use a different form to apply for the 2 year version? OR, will the agency require any special paper-work to assess me as meeting all the requirements for a 2 year one. I have been (unofficially) told that I should write my reasons for applying for a 2 year entry permit, in a letter to the agency, outlining my connections to PRC (ie, my partner often works there on official business)....or would that simply complicate my application? Stephen, no, the application form is the same no matter which type you will apply for. So do the required documents. You can just explain why you want to apply for the 2-year one on your application form and I don’t think you need to outline the reasons in another letter. As long as you prepare all the required documents and have detailed itinerary, it won’t be that difficult.
