About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen?

Sorry to make anyone be redundant. I just want to clarify for my sake. I am flying Houston to Singapore with a 22 hour layover in Beijing. Can I just go through immigration with my passport and be granted the transit visa?
Thanks,
An overly concerned traveler.

David, you can get the 24 hour direct transit at Beijing airport. If you want to leave the airport, just apply for a temporary stay permit which is free of charge at the immigration office and then you can visit the city.
