How much money in bank for self sponsoring student?

Hi, i am going to china to study chinese for a year, my course is 10,000 rmb and my fiance will pay for it, he works in the same city i will be studying teaching english, and so I will live with him. But the visa agency in my country asked for a bank statement. How much money must we have, as he lives in a cheap city and my course is very cheap.

Caren, usually, there is no accurate amount requirement because different cities have different standards. You can provide your fiance’s bank savings account and make sure that it can cover all your expenditures in PRC.

Hi Alen,
Thanks for your response. My fiance does not have much savings as he only got a job 2 months ago, but his friend (a Chinese national) gave us his bank statement and has sufficient funds, can I use his friend's?

Thanks,
Caren

Caren, because you enter PRC for study purpose, I’m afraid you cannot use his friend’s bank statement as the financial support proof. You should provide your parents’ bank statement, or your relatives’.

Hi Ali, thanks for your message, but my friend is the one sponsoring me though? Then why cant i provide his bank statement? My parents arent paying my fee, but my friend, very good friend is. What if my boyfriend was paying my fee?
I do not think it matters who is sponsoring me, as long as they have agreed and signed the sponsorship letter. As the visa centre asked me who is gonna sponsoring me I said my friend and they said bring the bank statement.

If so, you can provide your friend’s bank account to have a try. Good Luck!

Hi all, I got my visa, I used my fiance's friends bank account, she is Chinese. What they did at the embassy as I waited, they called her and asked why she wants to sponsor me, and he replied that it is because I have an interest in chinese culture and language and being from Africa, she thinks this is a great opportunity for me and right there, they agreed, they didnt even ask me many questions about my sponsor.
