About:China Visa Application in USA

I have a letter of invitation from a friend in Shanghai, but no ticket yet, am a US citizen

not sure of the exact date therefore will buy the ticket later. Can I get the visa with the friend's invitation?

Manuel, you want to apply for the tourist L type, right? If yes, you don’t need to provide the round trip air tickets and hotel reservation because you can provide an invitation letter from your friend in PRC.
