I am flying from LA to Guangzhou then to Thailand, My layover in Guangzhou is 5 hours.

Do I need a Visa for China if I wont' be going out of the airport?

Provided you don't leave the airport you will not need to apply for an entry permit before your trip

Jose, no entry permit is needed for your situation because you are able to use the 24 hour direct transit. And you can leave the airport by applying for a temporary stay permit which is free of charge at the airport.
