checked our visit 3 days in shanghi  staying in Hotel catch cruise ship to singapore   why havent chinese embassy in uk got this information

Hi there! If you travel like that, you can apply for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. Actually, you can contact with the airline company and see if they know the 144 hour policy. If they know, you can board the plane without entry permit. If not, you can print out the policy and show it to them. In this way, you can go to Shanghai without entry permit.
