About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Very Quick stopover

Hi there! I have a rapid 45 hour stopover in Beijing on way to Calgary from Philippines. I don't like airports, so anytime I have a stopover more than 3 hours I like to leave the airport and have a very quick local meal/beer. Will the 72 hour visa work for this? Will I need to collect my luggage. I'll already have my boarding pass for my next flight and want to at least experience some Chinese culture...if even for an hour!! Thanks!

Nick, you can enjoy the free transit policy. As for whether you need to collect your luggage, it depends on your airline and the tickets you hold. If it's a joint-way, it's likely that you don't need to collect the luggage. If you have connecting tickets from different airlines, you may need to claim your luggage.
