About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Visa Limit 144 hours

I have travelled to China many times before on business and I see this new law effective Jan 2016.
I think I am on the cusp of the limit but I see that there is a note here that states, " The layover time should be limited to 144 hours. However, the 144-hour free stay period does not start until 00:00 of the day following passengers’ arrival. So actually, the allowed time to stay is a little bit longer than 144 hours.".
I arrive on a Sat at 5:30 PM flight and am leaving to Korea for 2 days on the following Sat at 8: am. I need to get a visa? or am I okay?

Tina, so your layover time should count from 00:00 of the Sunday after your entering and you should exit before 23:59 of the next Friday, but you are planning to leave on the next Saturday. Therefore, I'm afraid you need to get an entry permit beforehand or just change your schedule.
