About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

How strict is the 11:59pm rule

I plan to arrive at 8pm from USA on December 27 to PEK and depart on December 31 at 12:50 AM (50 minutes after the 72 hour rule) from PEK to SYD. Will I have a huge problem upon arrival in PEK if I want to use the 72 hour rule? Clearly, I will be through immigration at PEK before midnight on December 30th so well within the 72 hour rule. Perhaps I should purchase a one-way refundable ticket to HKG with an 11pm departure from PEK on December 30th and just cancel it after we are in China? Thoughts? Thanks,

Chad, currently, it’s not that strict. As far as I know, many tourists who transit for more than 72 hours in Beijing enjoy the 72 hour free transit there. So there is no need to worry!
Or if you are still worried, you can contact with the Beijing airport immigration inspection office and consult if you can use the 72 hour free transit there. Tell: 0086-10-56095400

It doesn't matter if you go through immigration before midnight.
Your departure is at dec 31, the 4th day in Beijing and that means you'll stay illegal in China.
And I am pretty sure they'll not let you board in the US with this schedule.
And if you wanna fake the chinese immigration ....good luck.
Maybe they don't realise your fake ticket to HK but if they catch you....it's a crime against chinese law.
