About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Will be on cruise visiting Shanghai 8am and departing same day 11.59pm. Do I need a China visa?

Do I qualify for direct transfer? Am I able to go ashore while there. Have Australian passport and reside there.

Pat, you don’t need it because you qualify for the 24 hour direct transit. You are allowed to go ashore, but you need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the frontier inspection.
