How can I get to nanjing from Shanghai hongqiao airport?

If the answer is by train, how can I get the train station from hongqiao airport?

You can just walk from Hongqiao airport to hongqiao railway station; it takes about 10 minutes by the underground passage. At hongqiao railway station, there are over 120 bullet trains per day to Nanjing, very convenient.

Is it easy to go to the train station and book a ticket myself? Because I heard that it is so crowd at summer and it may take me the whole day to book it, is that right?
