Will I need a visitor visa?

Hi I want to visit Shanghai from NZ for holiday next month with my family.

If you are a New Zealand passport holder, I would advise to make your travel plan eligible for the 144h free transit policy in Shanghai, so that the entry permit is not necessary. If you want to stay longer or your route does not meet the requirements, you need to apply for a normal tourist L type ahead of your trip.
