Hi, l wanna learn about x2 visa type can possible or not possible to extend it

I have been studying Chinese and my X2 is going to expire end of the June, but l want to continue studying , and want to extend my X2, some members of the university talk l have to go back my country, not possible to extend it, what shall l do ? Thanks
