Changing flights at Shanghai airport

I am flying in from Vancouver Canada on China Eastern airlines and connecting to a flight on China Southern airlines to Seoul. I have three and a half hours between flights. Is that enough time? Will my luggage be transfered to the other airline or do I have to retrieve it and check it in again at China Southern airlines.

Yes, your time is enough for the transfer, just take it step by step. As long as you hold the through ticket and hold the boarding pass of the onward flight, just present your luggage tag receipt at the transfer desk and the staff will help you with the luggage. It is no need to reclaim by yourself!
