The rule varies in different airlines. I just know the free allowance of Air China. Passengers of first-class and business cabins can take 2 pieces of checked luggage at most and each of them should not weigh over 32kg. For economy cabin, passenger can only take 1 piece and the weight limit is 23kg. No matter which cabin, the dimension of each case should not be larger than 158cm.
