Hi. Is it correct that if you change company in PRC, you have to go home to re-apply for a working Z type?

Matt, you don't have to go home to re-apply for a Z type. You can ask your new company to get you a new work permit and then go to the local exit and entry administration to renew your residence permit. A release letter and a copy of your new company's business license or Organization Code Certificate will be required.
