About:China Visa Application in USA

Visa necessary????

I read you can stay in mainland China for 72 hours if transiting an international airport. I have a long lay over in Beijing on route from the USA to New Zealand. May I go into Beijing without a visa? What is the procedure at the airport?

Hi Pat! What passport do you hold and how long do you plan to stay in Beijing? If you have a US passport and you transit in Beijing for less than 72 hours, you can go into Beijing without an entry permit. Upon arrival at the airport, follow the direction boards to go to the 72h free transit counter. Hand in your flight ticket and passport, then the officer will stamp on your passport.
