About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

can I make use of the 144 Hour transit in Shanghai

I am travelling Birmingham - Amsterdam - Shanghai - and then returning on the same route, does this qualify
for the free visa?

Chris, you mean you will return to Amsterdam after stopping in Shanghai? If yes, you don’t qualify for the 144 hour free transit. According to the policy, after your stopover in Shanghai, you should fly to a third country or region. So you should apply for a tourist L type in advance.
