travel without passport by train

hello everyone i am foreigner student living in shenyang liaoning i want to know if it is possible to travel in the mainland China with my student card ID . thanks

Tene, under normal circumstances, you have to take your passport when getting on a train. If your passport is kept by the police to apply for some paperwork, you can ask the police to issue you a certificate and it can be used to take place of the passport.
