About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

FCO-HKG-PEK, then PEK-HKG-FCO?

If I fly on Cathay Pacific from Rome to Hong Kong, and then Hong Kong to Shanghai -- stay 48 hours -- and then fly to Hong Kong, and then to Rome... would that be eligible for visa free entry?

John, sorry you are not eligible. You fly from HK to Shanghai and then back to HK, this is actually not classed as a valid transit route.
