About:Shanghai Metro Line 2

We will be arriving at Shanghai Pudong airport at 7:10 pm for a 14 hour layover.

We would love to do some sightseeing during this layover. From what I am reading we could take the bus line to city but what transportation is available at 5:00 am to get us back to the airport?

Yes, you can take maglev train from PVG to Longyang Road Station, and change to metro line 2 to East Nanjing Road Station. Then, you can see East Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, The Bund, Huangpu River and Oriental Pearl Tower. There are many nice restaurants and shopping centers. Have fun!

The first train of metro line 2 departs from East Nanjing Road Station for PVG at 6:04. It is too late.
However, you may take shuttle bus line 5 from East Yan'an Road Zhejiang Road Station. The first bus departs at 5:10, and the trip takes about 1 hour. Notable, you are suggested to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance. If the time is tight, you have to take a taxi to the airport directly.
