About:China Visa Application in UK

I hold a UK passport, do I need to book a ticket to apply for tourist visa?

is hotel reservation not enough?

Aramide, if you don't know any one in China and you don't go there via a travel agency, you have to book round-trip ticket for applying the tourist L type entry permit. The hotel reservation is not enough.
