72 hour entry permit on arrival at Beijing Airport - US passport holder

I have US passport and reside in Japan on a short tour. Would like to visit Beijing for less than 72 hrs (sightseeing). I will originate from and come straight back to Japan. Will I get free 72 hour entry permit on arrival at Beijing Airport?

Hi there! If you travel like that, you are not eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing. You should apply for a tourist L type in advance. Because according to the policy, after stopping in Beijing, you should fly to a third country or region, but you fly back to Japan.
