Direct Transit - checked luggage?

For a direct transit visa, must I take my check luggage with me (baggage claim)? I assume it will still be with the airline carrier. I am asling this , so I can prepare a hand-carry bag.

Please advise.

You are "asking" about checked-luggage? I believe your checked bags will remain with the airline. Check with your carrier. I think it will be a hassle to lug your suitcase around for such a short visit, not to mention customs...
