Do Shanghai buses accept notes?

Hi, I've not taken a bus in the city before. Do they accept notes, or only coins? Can I pay for 4 persons at one go, or do each individual in my family have to pay individually?

Yes, as I know, the buses accept notes. You can pay for 4 persons at one go.
