1 week in Beijing

I (US Citizen) was planning on staying for a week in Beijing on my way to Sydney. Do I really need to spend almost $300 for a visa for just a weeks stay??

Mia, it should cost USD 300. And if you hold US passport, you can apply for a 10-year multiple-entry tourist L type which costs USD 140.
