About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a Chinese visa or not?

I'm flying from Taipei to Sanya (Hainan), with a long stopover of 6 hours in Guangzhou.
I would like to visit Canton Tower.

As you are not in transit you have to apply for an entry permit when you wanna visit Mainland China.

Thomas, do you think I could visit Canton Tower with a "72-hour free stay".
Please also confirm that I dont need a Chinese entry permit to go to Hainan, because my flight actualy starts in Taipei, and Guangzhou is just a stopover.
Thanks for helping
