question about HK Dependant visa

I am Swedish and applied for a HK dependant entry permit, with my wife as sponsor, who is China and has a HK work permit and I.D. card. We live in Shenzhen, mainland PRC permanently and my wife travel to work in HK on daily basis.

Now HK immigration got back to me asking for: "Proof of accommodation arrangement in HK for the dependent, such as tenancy agreement and recent utility bills."

Do we need to live in HK to get the dependant entry permit?

Dear, if you want to apply for it, you have to provide photocopy of proof of sponsor's accommodation, e.g. rental receipts. It means that your wife needs to have somewhere to live in HK.

Thanks for you reply. So it isn't possible to live in Shenzhen mainland PRC? Strange. Many people live in Shenzhen and travel to Hong Kong to work. Me and my wife plan is to move to HK once I have my dependant permit.
