About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Dubai-Shanghai-Houston (via Dubai)

Can I do this route to qualify for the 144 hour visa or do I have to do something like Abu Dhabi-Shanghai-Houston (via Dubai)?

Also can a UK citizen get a Multi entry tourist L type at a Chinese consulate in Houston?

Sorry, dear, both routes do not qualify for the free transit policy because you fly from UAE to Shanghai and back to UAE. To use this policy, you need to take a direct flight from Shanghai to Houston or a flight stopping over in another country instead of the UAE.

It's possible for you to get a multi-entry L type when in Houston.
