how can I stay for a year in PRC

Hello I have a ten year multi entry L type and I want to stay in Shanghai for at least a year using an apartment I have available there as my base, how can I do this without going in and out of the country, do I need to get a new visa? I want to live and breathe the culture, I have travel all over China, but I want to live there and have a real culture experience. Thanks Bradley

Dear, it’s impossible for you to stay for a year in PRC with tourist L type if you don’t want to exit and re-enter the country.
But if you can work or study in PRC, it will be possible for you to study there for one year without exiting and re-entering. You can find a job or find a school to study in PRC, in this case, you can apply for work Z type or student X1 type, and then you can get the temporary residence permit which may allow you to live for a year in PRC.
