Bringing 50 pieces cellphone for business use

Hi there,
I would like to know if I need to bring 50 pieces of cellphone to enter China for an event, and I intend to bring all back to my home country, will those items be tariffed?

I'm afraid you should pay the tax. 50 pieces are too many. You are recommended to deliver it as a cargo.

According to the rules, you don't have to pay the tax until the amount of cellphone exceeds the self-use range, and the number of 50 pieces is way too beyond that range. They might even get confiscated if you take them along with you. You'd better conduct freight formalities.
