About:Passport

Passport expiring on November 05, 2016

We intend to travel to China around 1st week of May, 2016 and return 10 days later. However on May 05, 2016, the 6 month validity period sets in. So will we have to plan our trip accordingly and be back before May 05, 2016?

No, you don't have to be back before May 05, 2016. When you apply for the visa, you should have at least six months on your passport, so you need to do the application as soon as possible.
