prc entry on one-way ticket

Question

We are hoping to enter China on L visa class (tourist) and then apply for a student X type once entrolled in Chinese language school. This makes it difficult to know our return date, as it depends on the length of the course of study. We want to investigate our options while in PRC (during our 30 day tourist L type). Is it possible to enter the PRC on a one-way ticket in these circumstances?

Hi, Polly! For what I know, if you can't provide an invitation letter from PRC, it's mandatory that you submit round-trip tickets. And it's not easy to change your 30-day L type to a student X type without leaving the country. So if possible, please apply for an X type for this trip directly.
