fees for leaving airport during layover

I have an 18 hour layover in Shanghai. I plan on staying at a hotel. I want to know if the airlines will charge me a fee because I left the airport during my layover. On a budget and need to know my expenses.

Ann, because you only have 18-hour layover in Shanghai, when you leave the airport, you may be required to apply for a temporary stay permit, but it’s free of charge. Thus, there is no any fee.
