Transferring from Dragonair to American in Capital Airport

Hello - my husband is flying from HK to NYC with a layover in Beijing, the HK to PEK flight is booked through American, Dragonair(booked through American, the layover is in PEK but it is only a few hours so he did not get a Visa. He also is not able to physically print a boarding pass, American wouldn't let him do it online and Dragonair can't print for him. Is he going to face any issues? is Dragonair in a different terminal than AA at the airport? Thank you!
