About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

15 hrs layover in Shanghai

Hi,
I am traveling from the USA to Taipei. In my route, I'll have 15 hrs of layover in Shanghai, will I qualify for the 72 or 144 hour visa free transit? If I do, can I go outside of the airport and wonder around Shanghai until my departing time?

Yes, you qualify. You can go outside of the airport and tour in the city. Please return to the airport in time so that you can take the connection flight.
