About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Same airport?

My parents were just refused at Hong Kong because they are planning to enter through hangzhou xiaoshan and exit through Shanghai. My understanding was that was okay. Do you have to enter and exit through the same port?

Elliot, if your parents qualify for the 144 hour free transit, they can enter and exit through different ports. But if they will sue the 72 hour free transit, they can only enter and exit from the same airport.

According to the requirements above, they fit the bill. They had a flight already arranged leaving from Pvg in three days. Hong Kong airlines told them they couldn't and forced them on a flight to Shanghai, completely ruining our plans for today and tomorrow. Is there anything else that would disqualify them or did Hong Kong air just get it wrong?

I'm reading it again. Maybe they neglected to inform the carrier before their arrival to get the processing done. How long does that processing take? Sorry, must have been an oversight on my parents' part.

Dear, it is necessary to inform the carrier before you arrive, so that they can declare your request to the immigration office for processing. Once you inform the carrier, the carrier will tell your situation to the immigration inspection. It can be done before landing.
