length of stay of the single entry with 30 day validity

Hi we are going to Shanghai from Brisbane next year and do have return tickets leaving Australia on the 28th of March staying in China for 3 months.We would like to apply visas on the Jan. 2nd and still be okay with validity?Please advise. Lynda

Lynda, you can apply for it on Jan. 2nd. Because the validity is usually 3 months, you can enter PRC at any time within the 3 months and March 28th is within the 3 months. If the allowed stay duration is 30 days, the 30 days are calculated from the date of your entry into China.
