South African 24 Visa Overnight

I'm a South African citizen and have a 14 hour layover (over night) I want to stay at a hotel. I'm confused if I'm covered under the 24 hour direct transit. It says I must "not leave the specified transit area"

So if I want to stay at the Shanghai Pudong Ramada (listed as .9 miles away) will I be covered?
Or is that considered having left the specified transit area?

For Direct Transit
No entry permit is required for foreigners who hold tickets to the final destination and have booked seats on international airlines, ships, trains transiting directly through China, and will stay for less than 24 hours and do not leave the specified transit area.

Frank, if you need to leave the airport, you need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport. In this way, you can leave the airport and stay at a hotel.
