About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Return flight from BKK to Shanghai

As a UK national, If I book a return ticket from BKK to Shanghai, can I stay there for less than 144 hours on a free transit visa? The purpose of travel is a 5 day stop in that city only. Thank you in advance.

Ben, you mean you want to fly from BKK to Shanghai, stay there for five days, and then go back to the UK, right? If so, you can enjoy the 144-hour free transit.

Hello Marlon, sorry no, I wish BKK - Shanghai - BKK, a return flight back to the same original country. As such it might not be considered a transit stop, thus the question. I hope that is clear.

Opps, if you arrange the route like this, I'm afraid you can't make use of the free transit. I advise you to have a stopover in Hong Kong or Macau on your return route to make you eligible.
