About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Philippines to LAX via Guangzhou

Hi. I will be travelling to Los Angeles from the Philippines, with a 17-hour lay over in Guangzhou, China. Do i qualify for the 72 visa free transit?

By the way, im a Philippine passport holder. And i want to stroll guangzhou while waiting for my flight to Los Angeles.

Hi Mark! As a Filipino, you do not qualify for the 72-hour free transit, but you can still use the 24-hour direct transit policy since you only stop over in China for 17 hours. While waiting for your connection flight, you can go out of the airport to take a stroll. What you need to do is to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport immigration counter.

Yes, this is free of charge. You need to present your passport, a confirmed onward air ticket, and entry permit for the US.
