US citizen with PRC (L) Visa going to Hong Kong

I have a 10 year tourist L type with multiple entries to Mainland PRC and a max stay of 60 days. I was planning on going down to Hong Kong to visit for a few days, and then come back to the Mainland. I am curious if this resets my 60 days? If so I would love to stay in Mainland longer.
