IF I am only going to China for 1 or two days (to board a cruise), the visa still costs $140 USD?

Hi Giuliana, first of all, you should figure out whether you can make use of the free transit policy in PRC. If you can use it, the entry permit is not needed. If you don't qualify for free transit, then you need to apply for an entry permit and it costs 140 dollars.
