About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

US citizen flying from Mongolia with 2 nights in Beijing.

I'm a US citizen flying from Los Angeles to Ulaanbaator, Mongolia for vacation. I connect through Beijing on the way, but don't leave the airport. On my return, I stop in Beijing for 2 nights. I then return direct to Los Angeles from Beijing. Do I qualify? I'm not sure what the 3rd country means.

Mark, yes, you qualify for the free transit. The third country means that next country you will fly to after you transit in a Chinese city. It should be different from the country of your departure.
