About:Requirements for Permanent Residence Permit

Which option is better for me (leading to a permanent or work residence permit)?

I've been on a Q1 residence permit during the past few years and I'm now accepted in a unique master program in one of the most well-known universities in China with full scholarship. The program is mainly designed to attract foreign talents to the country (the nature of the program is different than any other normal master programs in the country), but the residence permit will be a student residence permit during the study period. I was wondering, if I have the option to decide for remaining on my Q1 or go for X type residence permit, which one could potentially pave the path for me for towards a permeant or work residence permit?
Thank you

I think they are the same. Because when you apply for permanent residence permit, it requires that your marriage has lasted for at least 5 years in a row and you stay in PRC for no less than 9 months each year. No matter which type you hold, you will stay in PRC. So both are okay.
